Betterhelp Reviews: Is Betterhelp Legit?

6 months ago, a relationship I invested so much in crashed before my eyes. It was more hurtful and traumatizing because I put all of myself into it.

Even when I saw signs that showed something was wrong, I took unspeakable measures and even compromised my standard with the hope it would work, all to no avail.

And while I was nursing my pains, I lost my job and genuine friends in my life. At that point, there was nothing left for me. That was when depression, frustration, anger, and anxiety set in.

This was the state I was in when I heard about online therapy platforms while scrolling through a social media platform.

I had to face another challenge, which is finding an online therapy platform that matches my needs, because there were tons of options I saw online.

BetterHelp stood out for me. I will tell you why!

Among all the platforms, BetterHelp offers more advantages than the rest. Aside, it’s the largest in the world, it has connections with over 30,000 professional therapists and it’s also affordable.

In this BetterHelp review, I will be sharing the experience I had when I finally opted for BetterHelp. Its features, how it works, its advantages, and even what I wasn’t so comfortable with when I signed up for their service.

BetterHelp Review: About BetterHelp and How it works?

I found out that BetterHelp is one of the best online platforms where you can get counsel in the world. It was established in 2013, with its headquarters in Mountain View, California.

One of the best things about this platform is that you have the option to decide how you want your counseling session to be.

There’s an option for online messaging, live chat, and video and phone sessions. Whichever one you prefer, with either your smartphone, computer, or tablet, you can access BetterHelp counseling sessions.

Also, I noticed in my BetterHelp review that BetterHelp doesn’t only have counseling options but also different professional therapist experts. They have a network of over 30,000 licensed therapists with good professional records.

You can find accredited psychologists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists and board-licensed professional counselors. These people have helped millions of people maintain emotional, mental, and physical stability.

BetterHelp Review: What are the Features of BetterHelp?

Let me take you on a tour on some of the features of BetterHelp that will interest you.

30k+ licensed therapists Available

Unlike other therapy platforms I have reviewed, BetterHelp has a network of over 30,000 professional therapists who have licenses and fully registered to attend to you.

Therapists on BetterHelp are licensed, trained, experienced, and accredited psychologists (PhD / PsyD), licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFT), licensed clinical social workers (LCSW / LICSW), or licensed professional counselors (LPC).

Isn’t that interesting?

Affordable online therapy option

Could you imagine that with the network of various professional therapists BetterHelp is connected to, that you won’t have to rub a bank or break a bank to get their service? I was shocked to my bones when I found out their online options are very affordable. This is one advantage BetterHelp has over other platforms.

Same-day appointments available

In my BetterHelp review, I also noticed you can be attended to the same day you book an appointment. That means you don’t have to wait or queue for days or weeks after booking a session before you can be attended to.

Privacy and Security Protection

BetterHelp has a privacy policy that ensures maximum privacy and security protection. They have built state-of-the-art technology, operations, and infrastructure with the goal of protecting your privacy and safeguarding the information you provide. Also, you can also delete messages you’ve sent to your counselor if you want.

A Wide Variety of Therapy session options

Another interesting thing about BetterHelp is that it offers counseling through online messaging, live chat, and video and phone sessions. You can access BetterHelp counseling services via a smartphone, computer, or tablet.

Option to Change Counselor

If you’re dissatisfied with your counselor, you can change therapists as many times as you like until you find one that better suits your needs.

BetterHelp Review: Do BetterHelp Have Disadvantages?

Yes, there is.

You don’t get the option to choose a counselor at first except you tour their official website very well. BetterHelp automatically matches you with the counselor it determines is a good match.

How much does it cost?

The cost of therapy through BetterHelp ranges from $65 to $90 per week (billed every 4 weeks), and it is based on your location, source, preferences, and therapist availability. You can cancel your membership at any time, for any reason.

How Do I BetterHelp?

Interesting question!

  • Visit the official website at https://www.betterhelp.com/
  • Click on ‘Get Started’ button in the top option to register.
  • Then, choose the type of therapy you are interested in. You can select Individual (for myself), Couple (for myself and my partner), or Teen( for my child).
  • You will be given a questionnaire to answer. After providing answers to the questionnaire, you will be connected with a therapist based on your responses. The connection will be done within 24 hours.
  • You can go ahead to chat with or message your therapist at any time once the connection is made. To connect with your therapist for a live chat, phone, or video session, you will need to schedule a time with your therapist and log in to your account at your determined session time.

Note, you are free to change therapists if it’s not a good fit.

How long Does BetterHelp Therapy Session Last?

How long a session with any BetterHelp counselor or therapist lasts depends on your needs. Oftentimes, it varies from one person to another. For instance, if you are going through emotional trauma, you don’t expect your session to end at the same time as that of someone under work stress.

It might take you two weeks to heal and get the value of your money and takes another one month to get the same value. The ball is in your court.

Is BetterHelp right for me?

Hmmm! I can’t say for sure unless I’m definite about what you are looking for. But if you are passionate about living a quality life and being the best version of yourself, then yes, BetterHelp is right for you.

Also, you might have vision, goals, and aspirations but have hurdles that try to impede your achievement process. Signing up for BetterHelp services is the right thing to do.

Moreso, if you are going through stress, depression, anger, addictions, LGBT matters, grief, or relationship trauma, BetterHelp is right for you. Their therapists can help you recover and even build your self-esteem.

On the flipside, I don’t advise you to opt for any of BetterHelp services if:

  • You are a minor or you are under the care of a legal guardian.
  • You are in an urgent crisis or an emergency situation.
  • You were required to undergo therapy either by a court order or by any other authority.
  • You do not have a device that can connect to the Internet or you do not have a reliable Internet connection.
  • You have a severe mental illness.

It might be a waste of time and resources if you do.

Is BetterHelp Legit?

Doubts concerning the reliability of online counseling services like BetterHelp are growing along with their popularity. BetterHelp has shown to be a reliable and successful resource for mental health support for many people, in spite of some skepticism and criticism.

BetterHelp provides a useful service that has assisted many people in improving their mental health. Its professional therapists, stringent privacy policies, and easy accessibility make it an invaluable resource.

In addition, people with hectic schedules or limited mobility may find it especially useful to have therapy conveniently available from home.

Furthermore, the ability to speak with a therapist via phone, video chat, or messaging offers clients freedom and personalization in how their care is tailored to their interests.

Overall, despite continued skepticism regarding online therapy platforms such as BetterHelp, several user experiences attest to the platform’s validity and efficacy in offering mental health help.
